Im planning on being in the NW somewhere around July 1st. Might just drop in for a few days and do some dredging with you'all.
Would help if I knew the approximate location so I can plan my travels to be in your area around July 1st.

do a search for Keystone Wyoming, or if your gpaa look at the Douglas Creek claims. we will be on the flats at Douglas Creek right next to the gpaa claims. if you come in during the evening hours youll see our bonfire/singnal fire a long way off. 3 inch dredge nozzel limit unless you get ahold of the FS guys and pay for a 4 inch $10.00 permit.otherwise its free to dredge.youll need to get ahold of the Wy people and get their panphlet of rules and send them all your contact info and where ,when, what type of mining youll be doing, all of thattype of info. the water is clear and COLD but only about 2 or 3 foot deep.gravel bottom and bedrock is maybe 2 foot down.Leonard posted the 2010 dredgeing and panning specifications on rocky mountain prospecting forum but here it is. http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/mbr/projects/mi...ations.pdf Leonard thinks only the equipment owner has to have the permit. ill send in for mine tomorrow and ill have extra copies with me. dont forget if you do send in for one, make a copy for yourself and have it with you! if the link i put up dont work , the one over on the rocky mountain prospecting forum. also get a copy of Wyoming DEQ "guideline 19" that can be found on their site. OR i have a copy that you can read while we enjoy the evening activitys around the campfire singing "gom by ya " or Ed and Leonards favorite song "the Beverly Hillbillies theme song".

If you have a Keene swivel nozzle, I'd bet it measures 3 1/8th inch across it. Mine did. I welded a ring to bring it down to exactly 3" but I'd also bet they won't argue over an 1/8". They have always been more than reasonable there. If the extra 1/8" becomes a problem, my dredge will be there and at this point of my life, I'd almost rather watch as get in the water. I'll put up directions to the Flats in the next week or so but if you can get to the GPAA claims, you won't have any problem finding us. My claim, Beans&Bacon, is right below the GPAA claim. Look for the 20' ham radio masts with an American flag proudly waving. Thats my campsite. Looking forward to meeting you.

Thanks Leonard. I assume you are talking about the Yela Fever claim being upstream of you? Or is that downstream?
I noted that GPAA has a new group of claims called the Crazy 8 #1 up Lake Creek and taking in a bit of the jct with Douglas Creek.
Is it true the area isn't open until July 1st? I was thinking of showing up early and working the GPAA claims.
Is the FS strict about 14 day stays in the woods up there, or will working a claim get me pass that hurdle?

I measured my keene swivel nozzle at 3.25" ID. I will buy a 3" ID ring and bring it with me, incase I need it.
Get it tacked to my nozzle in Laramie if need be. I can always grind the welds off when unneeded.

yep down stream of yela fever. you just cant dredge untill then. we usually haul the dredges to the bank and drop it in on the first. we will be on the flats. you cant miss it. when you pop out of the trees and start down hill towards that fork in the road(as per GPAA guide) hang to the left at the fork. youll see Leonards camp with the ham antena with the American flag.Leonard has the maroon colored Ford Ranger pickup and pop up trailer.lots of flat ground and EZ access to drive in with any size trailer or motor coach!

Sounds inviting for sure russau. It's 1000 miles one way for me, but Im sure going to try and make it, and maybe bring a friend or two from the forums.
