dredging in Oregon

Postby windak » Tue Jun 08, 2010 6:10 pm

My name is Dianna Blazo. My husband, Richard, and I have been dredging for over 20 years. We have dredged in Georgia, Nevada, California and Oregon. In just the last few weeks, there is a lot of talk about closing down dredging on the Chetco River. There are several valid claims, but they are going to try to close them and all dredging anyway. The Chetco River is in southwest Oregon.

I am trying to organize a group of people to help with the fight to keep dredging open on the river. As we know, once one river is closed, others follow soon.

I need help in locating and amassing copies of won court cases concerning dredging: surveys and studies done that prove dredging does not harm the river or the fish, anything will help. I think even cases from other states would help. I need to prove that we are serious about our dredging.

I have contacted the New 49ers of CA, Waldo Mining of OR, and NWMPC of WA, all of which we are members of. I am requesting the same help from them. I need to have all the articles together so I can prove my facts. If there is anyone or group that you think can also help, please let me know. I know that we are in for a battle here. They closed down California and it would not take much to convince the people of Oregon to close down dredging also. We all know once they (enviromentalists) get started, they don't stop until we have lost all rights.

I am new at being a spokesperson for a cause, but I believe we need to be heard. I appreciate any help that you can offer to me.

Thank you in advance,

Dianna Blazo

Good for you!!!

Having chased this dog around the tree a few times, I will offer one bit of advice.
While we should all be on the same side, pulling in the same direction, the nature of a prospector is that of a contrary and ornery old cuss. Because of this you will be criticized, argued with and sometimes even undermined in your attempts get change that will benefit all of us. I cant explain why but I have seen it time and again.
My advice, don't let those who believe their own way is better, derail you in your efforts. Do your best to unite people and get involvement but understand that all will not march to the same beat...even if they are cutting their own throats.

Get in touch with the PLP, Jerry Hobbs can help. http://www.plp2.org/

Good Luck~!

Best of Luck, Dianna.

Needs a good strong dose of chemo to stop the spread of this nasty Kali Cancer.
