Misfortune .... :?

I returned from a week in Wyoming last night. I had a family reunion in Lander over the holiday. Unfortunately, time constraints did not allow me to crash your party. So close yet so far....it would have been cool to meet you all and maybe getting Hoser to autograph my butt

I did get to prospect Wyoming while I was there. I visited the Carissa mine up in south pass and a bit of ore from the ball mill accidentally fell in my pocket. Later I drove up to Sweetwater creek and tossed the dredge in for about a hour. Pulled out 3 flakes and 2 nice garnets.

Have fun all...!

Mrs Geno and I returned home Tuesday evening and rested all day yesterday.... We had an awesome time and really hated having to leave such great company! Cathy finally understood why these trips mean so much to me and also understood that the true gold I find is in the people I call friends... I was unable to participate in any of the dredgng, but did get a chance to teach Cathy how to sluice and we got a batch of black sands from a culvert near the campsite. We'll pan it out at the first oportunity and post the pic. The camp was still going strong when we had to leave Tuesday morning. If you ever get the chance to meet up with the CCC at Douglas Creek, you owe it to yourself to get there. I finally got to meet the Hoser and I must say, he's the same guy that posts on this forum... What a great guy!

Glad to hear you and Mrs had a good time. The bunch that shows up there at Douglas are some of the finest you will ever meet in the mining community or anywhere. Sorry I didn't get to be there for the 4th Rendevous and meet up with you again, been along time since the mud of Georga. Hope you didn't have any cold showers LOL. We will meet again somewhere some time in the future my friend. God Bless..... wallyMi

Geno-

Glad to hear you survived the wilds of Wyoming, and the kitchen of the CCC!
I was not happy to leave when I did, but I took off the time I could. Glad to have met your lovely bride. She seemed to have adapted to the frontier lifestyle. I'm sure the little cooler weather than you have at home didn't hurt at all.
Take care. I will be in touch.

I just made it home at 7:00pm friday. Russ and Lee decided to leave friday as again, the weather was alternately crappy and sunny. What a great time! Those that had to leave early missed out on meeting Zooka and his lovely bride, Lynn. Word of warning, when Lynn offers to make you Margurita's, be carefull!. The whole camp turned into a very social, friendly, somewhat drunk group.

What a neat trip! Imagine having Zooka and Lynn as bartenders, and the illustrious Hoser as a dredge tender.

Pictures and more posts to follow early next week. It was a great time and we even found a little gold. Hoser says us Rocky Mountain dredgers are nuts.

:o CCC rocks----Douglas Creek is definately a good time for all. Forget the freezing cold--mosquitos that make alaskan ones wimpy--hail that'll beat ya--wind like I've never seen EVER anywhere before(my kalif wind stupidity provided much mirth for the informed) and speaking of stupidity(MINE) the dead forest was the most horrible experience I've ever had. Like camping in a cemetary--your surrounded by dead trees everywhere YET NOTHING will ever bring down the experience of camping and fooling around with some of the GREATEST folks on the planet. Glad I took my time traveling and talking to folks from almost all the states. Devastation to our once great country is absolutely amazing-both from the bark beetles and the bureauratz. Now who would close all their campgrounds 2 days before July the 4th?? WYOMING DID????????????? Broke and beetles was the excuse and by god don't you use our toilets?? Say what? THANK GOD for the Wyoming police--I got sick as a dog(or worse) and a GREAT officer marked on a map where to go for immediate help asap -much faster than emergency room-and even offered to guide me in my hour of extremis too--is that cool or what!! They also caught me a few times a mite over the limit by 30 mph or so and just waved at me to slow down?? Next to the CCC they were a great relief to know they were there too. Many thanx to all the folks who helped me throw my camp in/on/and in back of the truck to get me outta there asap. Bummer I missed Z as margaritas provided much hilarity according to $2GO-anyhow gotta unload my mess and by the by-DC weather is at 97% humidity right now and MORE lightning, hail and sleet a coming-YA'ALL GOTTA BE TOUGH TO BE THERE-John
