Sounds like a great trip. I like how you found a different way home. For these types of trips, always fun to try to go different ways. I wish I got your mileage J
I recommended the jacket you got to a friend of mine that just bought a bike too (what have I created there??) Did you find you were warm enough most of the day?
Warm enough- barely. I had on a thermal shirt (long underwear shirt), sweatshirt and the jacket and I was OK. If I had gotten wet, I would have been in trouble.
I have warn the jacket and a polo shirt with the temp at 90+ F. It was a mite warm, but I didn’t overheat.
How comfortable were you for the trip. Was this the first time on the freeway??
Freeway travel- wearing my regular glasses, I am OK running around town. It seems like somewhere between 50 and 55 is my critical speed. That is where I think I need something more secure to keep my glasses from flying off. They have not, but I am paranoid. My going forward plan is to get a pair of goggles with my prescription.
This was the first freeway trip of any length. I have hopped on for about ten miles a few times. The goggles work well.
As far as comfort, it was OK. For as long as I was on the bike, I was really ready to get off when I got home. I got a few hits from little rocks (big grains of sand)- no damage. This morning I find my wrists are sore. At the very least, I am not ready to take a multiple day trip at this time. I am going to see if I can relocate my pegs a few inches (4 or 5 inches) forward. Forward controls are wayyy too far forward. But for a longer trip, it would be nice to stretch the legs out.
I also need to get my trunk install. That will cut down on my having to wear a backpack.
