Looking for elemental analysis/assay

Postby JasonG » Fri Sep 24, 2010 12:09 pm

I found a few fly by night looking operations on the internet, but I was wondering if anyone knew if a reputable lab that does x-ray spectrum elemental analysis in addition to assays for pgm's gold, and silver?

In particular I am looking to identify rare earth elements and thorium, but I'd like a complete elemental analysis if possible.

Spectrographic analysis is the deal with gas chromaphotography(sp) a close second. Microderm also produces a radio active isotope beta ray back scatter analysis that is EXTREMELY accurate also. . YOUR collection of samples methodology must be extremely accurate in both process and procedure to compensate for extreme accuracy for any analysis. Otherwords "highgraded samples are completely worthless and prove nothing for economic viability studies-John

John - yes the x-ray spectrographic method is primarily what I am looking for. Can you recommend a lab that you have experience with? I have only found one so far that does this in particular and judging by their webpage it looks kinda shoddy... I'd prefer to start dealing with a place that someone has had a positive experience with, some of these labs honestly don't look very professional and I doubt their credentials. I have a chemist friend who operators mass spectrometers at the demil site at the Umatilla weapons depot and I asked him what he thought and he told me to steer clear of all the ones I found so far, so?

:o Unfortunately ol'man Butler died when his fume hood stopped and he was burning off mercury so I can no longer attest to anyones accuracy except FELL in LA who advertise in the ICMJ.Come to think of it the only producer of rare minerals is Englehardt in Colorado and might be the answer too???
