They told me, and I have it in print also, that if you retire at your full retirement age, you can earn any amount and not be penalized. If you retire before your full age, then the income limit comes into play. Thats why they can go back 6 months and give me back pay. It's limited to only 6 months. During that 6 month, I made far more than $14,000.

ok!! i couldnt/didnt want to wait untill i was 65. to many aches and pains to keep climbing ladders.

I too took SS early (62), and I only get 75% of what I would have got if I'd waited till I was 66. However, with the current administration messing with the economy, and spending as though there is no tomorrow, SS might not be there when I turn 66. Until I turn 66 (2 more years) I'm limited to what I can earn if I got a part time job. Retirement is too darn fun to ruin by getting a part time job. Being on a fixed income forces you to make wise decisions before you go out and get something you can't afford. Much different than when I had a steady income.

Camping for Halloween - not a bad idea except always so cold for halloween. We will have fun anyway! Ed is making reservations and we will have our chateau.
