800 ounce nugget on display in Australia!

Postby Rod1874 » Wed Dec 15, 2010 8:23 pm

Just Heard in the Melbourne Museum, there is an 800 ounce nugget on display.
It was found in April this year over three feet below the surface with a minelab
metal detector.

As i live near Melbourne, 1 hour away in heavy traffic might have to make a trip to the big smoke!

I think it is the second biggest nugget found in Australia with a metal detector, first prize is the 876 ounce
hand of faith found in Victoria Australia in 1980, now resides in Las Vegas Gold nugget casino.
It was found by Kevin Hillier from Melbourne, Kevin now lives in the golden triangle, he still searches for gold not far away from the
official site in Kingower. Sacrid ground to a gold prospector!

I am not sure if the museum allows photos

They did loose a large nugget on display about 15 years ago, stolen and never recovered.

Hi Russau,
My friends in Western Australia assure me there are a few smaller Nuggets left scattered about the desert, one has your name on it! :D

Best wishes for the festive season!

russau lets go for broke. with the right detectors we can get that nasty yellow stuff out of the ground be for it contaminates every one.

Mel im all for it. maybe the Discovery channel would make a tv show out of our trip and pay for it??and maybe we could get OCC to make us one of them prospectors motorcycles for us to ride around in out in the outback?? them MineLab would give us each a new minlab 5000 like ole Tom Massy has?

now if we could get the occ and minelab to build a motorcycle like a ural, with a two box dector built on the front and back i would go for that. as we know its cover ground and sample to find the good stuff. of corse we would need it to run on wiskey, so that way we would allways have a supply at night. having some one pay for the trip like the discovery channle would make it even better.
