I didn't know Geno, but I see he had a lot of friends.
My condolances.
I have done so much, with so little, for so long, that I am now qualified to do anything with nothing.
Now, I just have to find the time to put the dang thing together.

You can see a short video of Ed and Geno horseing around at http://golddredgervideo.com/traveling.wmv That was on our Saphire hunting trip to Montana. I picked up Geno at DIA in Denver and we traveled up through Yellowstone to Gem Mountain in Montana. This is my memory of him before the big "C". Here's he's giving the Jackalope hell in Dubois Wyoming.

God Speed Geno, I will miss seeing the camo on the flats, and being a witness to the constitutionals.

I too was greatly saddened when I learned of Geno's passing and while we met just once at a mining event long ago I followed his long and often arduous medical challenges in his battle with cancer. When I had a serious and similar medical challenge back some five years ago Geno offered me a lot of own inspiration and courage in his many messages of cheer, faith and support. What so inspired me was the depth of his faith.

To his family, I'm truly sorry for your loss and grief. Please accept my deepest condolences. God speed, Geno.

i only knew Gene for about 8 years but he turned into my best friend! Gene was always the first to volenter and to donate money for anyones problem. always had a good word or advice to anyone whod listen. always was vigulant in watching for any encroachment of our rights!Gene and i were always the first up in the mornings to get the fire going and get the needed coffee on the fire for the sleepyheads that drug out anfter it warmed up a little at the Flats. ill surely miss Gene whenever im around/see a campfire! Leonard and i were getting ready to go see Gene and Matt and go fishing. i feel gutted now! Gods speed Gene! Leonard wants to hold a memorial service for Gene up in Wyoming at Douglas Creek on the July 4 and hes going to invite everyone, but i guess i let it out of the bag and should of let Leonard do the inviteing!

Geno

You have really given up the mortal coil, and passed into a better place. I ask you keep an eye out for all of us. I hope that we don't keep you and the other angels too overworked.
I think that I will be making up a particularly special corner post for the Wyoming claim. I hope ya like it.

Ed

As I take a moment to reflect, it occurred to me that Geno's passing came a most rare moment. That being the Lunar Eclipse on the Winter Solstice. A truly rare event to commemorate an equally rare individual.

My head hangs low and my heart is heavy.... :(

Had I paid closer attention to the forum this last summer I would have realized I would have been within 50 miles of Geno while he was in Wyoming. I have a trip to Florida coming up in March and I planned to detour specifically to see him. I have known Geno via the internet for many years and we have talked on the phone many times and worked together on several projects. I will forever regret never having met him in person. He was definitely on my list of favorite people.

Good bye old friend.
