Spam gone

Now that my problem is solved, the spam is gone and the spammer is banned for a period of time. If more is posted, I'll ban them permanently.

I didn't want to post the reason publicly before it was fixed as if anyone posted anything objectional I couldn't do anything about it. For the last couple of weeks I have been locked out of the administrative log in of the forum which meant all I could do is what you could do. The database problem is fixed and everything is back to normal.

Sorry it took so long.

I have 2 accounts assigned on the forum. 1 is just like yours. I can read and post but not much else. Thats the one I normally use so I don't inadvertently do something stupid. I didn't have a problem with that account. The other one is the administrator account that the forum was setup with. Thats where I can do darn near anything. My log in to it quit working and when I tried having my password sent to me, it couldn't find my username/password combination in the database so it couldn't send anything to me either. I had access to the database and could find both my username and my email address so I knew it was all there but just not working. I found a way to reset the password on the internet and today I went back into work where there was a guy that knew a lot more than I on mysql as I didn't want to do anything until I had the users table backed up. We backed it up and applied the fix then I could log in and change my password. I don't know what caused the problem but now I know how to fix it in the future.

The other thing I will do in the next few days is assign Russ as a moderator and then he can also delete objectionable material.

It' will only be semi-control. You will have to be nice to him or he'll delete your *ss posts. He's a hard man to get along with but since Geno's gone, I'll be stuck with him for a while.
