Keenes marlex pontoons

well Monday im haveing my Keene marlex pontoons filled with high density (2%) closed cell foam here in St,Louis. it would take 10/12 of those 16 oz spray foam cans to maybe fill them. no more stinkin sinkin pontoons for me!!next im drawing up a new 3/16 inch ABS over/under sluice because of its lightness (im getting old!) and its durability.heck i might even put some new paint on it!

i filled a cooler top with that spray can foam. it did not work so well. some thing in the plastic made it hard for it to set up. then when it did go wow. you ever see a cooler blow its top.

you mite look in to building a alum. set of floats. they should be light. and hold up. then if you get a hole Marine jb weld works on it. or taking it to be welded.

im not going to use those spray foam cans. im going to a business thats does this. my brother had his pontoon boat done there. they are responsible and know how much they can put in pertaining to its rapid expansion. and itll not be much more than buying lots of spray foam cans and doing it myself. no more sunking pontoons! mel, I remember Gatesville when you helped me pull this dredge out from Salt Creek when they filled with water flowing over the top of it.

yes i do rember that. seen a lot of dreages go under over the years. every one is shocked at how i pull mine up and down the creek all the time with out getting holes in it. its all in keeping the floats in the water so thay ride on the moss.

my 2 inch proline like yours never has had this kind of problem either. hope thisll cure it on my 4 inch.

im not sure if this is EPP foam,
but epp is slightly flexible and wont chunk off or puncture pretty tuff stuff

Check with your local shop as to weight as some expanding foams(lots of volume/weight in a pontoon X 2) will make the floatation problem worse--yes no more subs but must be closed cell formulation as open cell sucks up water and THEN you,and your pontoons, are dead in the water-John

Larry the link to their foam products and pricing is more expensive (2x)than this other guy doing it for me! i have to ask him about the weight of this foam before i goahead.

the foam pontoons have been cancelled. it weights 2 lbs. per cuft. and my pontoons are about 6 cuft. each! i dont need that kind of weight!
