Hard core dredging in Nome

Postby golden optimist » Sun Mar 06, 2011 1:48 pm

If you are a hard core dredger, you might be interested in a thread on the alaska forum.

It's Jim Foley's forum and a $10.00 a year subscription one but it is well worth it. There is a hard core dredging thread by a dredger in Nome. Here's a couple of pictures from it. To get the thread you will have to subscribe.

Nome was a really neat place. You can look at the visitors center web can at http://www.discoverak.com/nome_webcam.htm Thats looking west toward Russia and thats the Bearing sea you see behind the buildings. Out there there somewhere in the ocean is where the pictures I posted iwere taken. Dave and I spent a lot of time at the visitors center as there and the library were the only warm and dry places we could go without costing money.

I've been following his adventure.

Think about it, the summer season is only three months, so by ice diving, he can work maybe double or triple the time that he would have in the summer season. Thats a lot more time and a potential for a lot more gold. Plus no skeeters! HA!

I'm rootin for em! :)
