A Bud and I are finishing up on our second 21 ft x 10 inch wide x 4 inch deep "Tom".
We cleaned the first one out at the end of each day, but I really think we can go two or three days.
That's one of the trials we want to run. As I see it, it all depends on the material and how much you are processing. Some areas contain more heavies than others, filling the riffles. Gotta watch the angle's effect on the flow over the riffles, and the heavies/values retension. A balancing act, so to speak.
I find the 10 x 4 to work very well with a flow of 3+ inches. Two of us can run plenty of material and have good stratification/classification.
I have done so much, with so little, for so long, that I am now qualified to do anything with nothing.
Now, I just have to find the time to put the dang thing together.
