Earthquake stories

Postby golden optimist » Sun Mar 13, 2011 3:06 pm

Next time we are sitting around a campfire, lets exchange earthquake stories. I was 75 miles from the epicenter of the Alaska 1964, 9.2 earthquake. It lasted for 5 minutes. There is a kind of neat story asociated with it. I'd pass it on in a campfire situation.

1970s in LA--shook like mad and brought down freeways and hospitals bigtime in the SF valley. Orange county in Westminster 87-think of quicksand covered in sand and you got it. Liquidfied the soils, threw water over the 5' wall around my pool, massive electric grid poles waving like leaves in the wind and moved/retired immediately as sic and tired of OC bs--John
