Visiting Arizona

Postby Red Doe » Sat Mar 19, 2011 2:32 pm

Hi guys!
We are gonna be visiting in AZ in July. The Phoeniz area and up I-17 and West on I-40. Are there any good places to pan, metal detect or any just plain cool places to see? If there is anyone that lives in that area that would let us visit there claims that would be cool. We would return the favor if you ever are up in WA. We have 6 claims. Please let me know....I would appreciate any and all the help anyone can give me.

I agree with Russ. Take a look at this trip to Lake Havasu a few years ago.

Red if you stay north of Casa Verde you will be in reasonable cool weather. Anything south of there you will be in 110 to 120 degree weather. If you have never prospected in the desert during that time before PLEASE, do not do it NOW. The desert is littered wiith bones of folks that thought they could take it. They just foud a guy missing since july 2010. He waw with a party of three looking in the Superstitions. They were just going for the day. Took 5 months to find the first two and the third just a few weeks ago. All within 2 miles of their jeep with a full tank of gas.
Lot of great places in the north, check out Prescott and Jerome. Jerome is an awsome old mining area. Much of the area is claimed up and, folks here take it seriously. Be carefull not to Hygrade any claims. Remember everyone carries a gun here and know how to use them. Do a lot of research and you will have a great time. The High desert is beautiful that time of year..

Yeah, if BLM and their 3rd party hosting GeoComm hadn't messed up a great thing, Our lives wouldnt be as difficult trying to find open areas to mine.

Thank you for the tips....I know it will be HOT....but don't have a choice. My son is having his first child.....yes...my grand baby.....He is due to enter the world on June 21....So I have to be there in July. Can't miss seeing my first grand baby.
We are looking at north of Phoenix and around Oak Creek Canyon. We are gonna hit Jerome and the Grand Canyon on the way home and head up CA Hwy 395 then CA Hwy 49 in California. Really looking forward to it....haven't been any where different in a long, long time. And I LOVE to travel....expecially love road trips.
Thanks again,
~N~
