Went up to take a look Tuesday. County road still blocked by snow at about 5,000 feet, 4' deep where the plows quit, normally open by Memorial day. With my unmaintained FS. access road at 6,400 feet don't see much hope getting into the claims before mid July this year.

But just wait till it finally warms up and the skeeters start hatching...

John,

I got a lot of respect for you brother, but the environmental movement started on the west coast, we on the east coast were still dumping industrial waste in the rivers here when all the clean water stuff, smog, logging, along with the spotted owl started on the west coast and it's these same environmentalists that has taken away what you do out there, as it has always been said, what starts in California moves across the nation. :( :(

Took the dam tour of Lake Shasta yesterday and at 98%++++ is truly a sight to see and that 85 story drop in that super fast elevator reminded me of falling off a building-cool though without the resounding CRUNCH I felt last time---water water everywhere and not a dredge in sight. Took my bro to CDFG to get a license yesterday and they about shat(who?? me lookn' fer trouble??) when I pulled in with a dredge on top a my truck--what a hoot--tried to give me a ticket because I was adjacent to a canal and I begged for it but bummer they reconsidered--NO JURISDICTION AS NOT A STREAM,LAKE OR RIVER-just a ag canal. I applied for a permit from the ag board to dredge the canal for maintence. Would luv to fire up adjacent to CDFG and pee my wetsuit laughing my inarticulate arse off-John

If there were a lake Sacromento event take place with the the melt off then the interstructure would be gone from the flood and if there were 20 feet of fresh water over the top of the salt water under the golden Gate Bridge then the water level would be such that is would create a lake that would be bad for every one and it would be a time when people would starve and it would be months before the food supply could be restored. Years before the power would be back on. It would be the most excitement most of you would ever have. slowmo

Watching our the floods around here, the Corp of Engineers were on the radio saying they were releasing 150,000 Cubic feet per second from Gavins point..
areas along I29 began flooding at 100k CFS, they anticipate 150k CFS releases until August, because of the amount being held up stream.

The mission of the lakes on the Missouri basin was originally as storage for flood control 1st, flood control took second place to recreation, wildlife protection and irrigation.
Now we have water everywhere as the result of USDA, EPA, and USFWS regulations

the COE are in ass covering mode around here. the designs of these dams are to reduce pool through the summer and fall, and allowing refill from spring melt. It has gotten off kilter. Sister's in laws, live on Ft Peck was nearly bone dry 10 years ago, they allowed it to build up for recreation, which is ok. From 40 ft below pool to overflow. Technically they should release to pool every year to allow for anticipated run offs. My big question is why they haven't done this.

You guys remember Tom Daschle? Obama's early health care chief Commie SOB from SD? He is culpable in the flooding in the midwest.

the COE really took some heat today in the st.louis post dispatch for their bumbelling fumbelling effort to controll the spring runoff of the Missouri River and blowing up the levies and flooding towns! you watch the food prices jump this summer/winter because of it!

Russ,

this whole thing is baffling to me. COE is a puppet nothing more, I've been listening to their spokes people come on local news radio and do the Omaha two step. They sound like a damned politician.

These dams were designed to handle many things, but not with improper management. all were designed to pool a large spring runoff and maximum rain event about head so long as fall water was at pool.

as long as these agencies of the gubermint are controlled by these socalled "representatives" ,we will be at their mercy! it seems that the enviromentalists money is whats dictating what our "representatives" say and do! so much for their integrity and charactor!
