South Park and back again

We purchased some land just west of Wilkerson Pass, 5 Acres with a view. After staying with relations over the past 5 years we decided to jump.

My wife "wants" me to go out there during the summers when I retire. She doesn't retire until 6 years later. Of course mine is 12 years out.

Glad you're living the dream. If I had money to spare, we could be neighbors. I'd need a big covered porch facing your property though. That way I could sit out on mine with a big cup of coffee and watch you do chores.

the price was right.. stuff over in that area isn't too bad, from $5000-20000 for 5 acres. Hell even if I take my brother in laws old Winnebago out and park it..

I was sick of seeing my mutual funds in the sh*tter. I figure at least this won't depreciate as much or as fast.

Momma has grand visions, my notion is something about the size of my existing garage..

It is off the grid, (so to speak) have to do solar for power, or a generator. Got a good deal on a 3500W generator, that will travel with.

Probably won't build for a few years. But had to make some plans.

Good to see that your starting early and I think prices are at a very buyer friendly time right now.

Had a friend that did the same thing in AZ. Bought 5 acres with a mobile home and water and septic already in. Put in a pad for the motor home he had and rented the trailer for several years till they were ready to retire. Had somebody to live on the land all year and take care of the property, then when they went down in the winters, he would work at improving the property.

building a bunker might raise some eyebrows in Park County. But very cool!! I think there is a guy on the flat off 24 that has some sort of earth berm thing going.

Geez if one could get one in the states, I've have a place to stay in a couple of hours!!

My brother in law has offered his 70s vintage Winnebago, but the county inspector won't let it sit year round. My wife said lets faux paint it like a Log Cabin.

Best part of the property is the location and view. 40 minutes to Buena Vista, about 1-1/2 hr to CO-Springs, and for momma and daughter, shopping in Vail in an hour.

Momma has designs in her head for a log home on the ridge, my idea is a garage/cabin.
