Turn assets into a living trust and they will go to whom ya want with all the bureauratz held at bay. No taxes works just fine by me as haven't busted my arse all my life so them damn bureauratz can party it off. I told my youngest when I pass to buy a nice vette like El D and party till the cows come home or the glovebox fulla tickets--John

All dredging toys moved to Alaska. Am building washplant for that time when they legislate us outta the water completely. But so much for fun. Screw Kalifornicate. I'm gonna continue mining somewhere til I'm dead and gone.

I'm old and grouchy (like Hoser) and have no illusions about surviving the coming rebellion. But family is well prepared and as far from "civilization" as we can comfortably be. Land, livestock, crops, water, game animals, and "security" have all been addressed. Plus items necessary for purchase/barter of other necessities. Don't kid yourself; gold and silver are valuable now. But hand tools might make be even more valuable. I guess it kinda depends upon just how far down we regress. Won't do much good to prepare for the worst if ya get over-run by marauders!

Russ, we have all kinds of family living on different parcels of land on the old, original, 4-section homestead. With a 40 acre lake smack in the middle of it. It is well off the beaten path. Everybody farms and raises livestock. Everybody has their own "speciality" skill. Most of us men are ex-military. Some wives are, too. None of this was really planned; it just kinda worked out right. There is even some medical training. Family has always been most important for us, so we work and play together often. I really do feel sorry for the ill-prepared city folk. But not enough to jeopardize family.

Hoser is right. everything all screwed up in Kali. All west coast imho. Too many people and no common sense.

I made the mistake of selling all my metal detectors and bitsy dredges. Ain't nothin on the place smaller than a 5". Now I am stuck. Too hard to carry all the parts back into the boonies, much less hide a big dredge. At least, it is for these old bones. So I am stuck dredging in the far north where the water gets stiff way too early.

I guess that I could try down south of the border. Maybe Costa Rica. No...wait....they got big, nasty snakes down there. I believe that I would rather fight with a hissing greenie than the snakes. More fun when ya hit em with a stick, too!
