Leonard, sorry to hear about the cancelation, but figured I would offer up my claim to anyone who is interested. I can't promise any results for the claim is largely unexplored, but it is within about an hour and a half from larimie, near red feather lakes Colorado. If anyone is interested, I will post more details. It is 160 acres with walking access, and dredging is allowed. It's on national forest and has plenty of camping available near the creek. The creek is small, and has produced in the past, both lode, and placer. There is a jeep trail that parellels the creek for hauling equipment in and out, unfortunatly it is closed to vehicles, so all must be packed in, although it is a easy hike.

I will be honest, with the fee changes I really need some help to ascess the claim, so I am looking for peole to help explore it.

Please feel free to pass this info to anyone who is near for your trip, but doesn't have Internet. Right now I would be available to meet up on Thurs, and Friday, and we could discuss extended stays / access at that time.

If anyone has questions, I will check back frequently, or you can call me @970-231-9235

How far away from there is the High Park fire? It must be in the general area?

Mtdew, and anyone else that is interested give me a call, and I can get you directions.

I won't be up there untill thurs, but I would allow others access before then due to the circumstances. My claim is also northwest of the highpark fire, so all restrictions still stand. The fire is 100 percent contained though. And is still 15 - 20 miles to the south east.

Backround on claim: it is near the townsite of Manhatten Colorado, active 1892 - 1920, northern most significant gold occurance in Colorado. Some mines in area assayed at nearly 4 oz. per ton of ore, but there was no way to transport ore to processing. Also area was still active with horse thives and Indians at this time so it was dangerous. Town once had population of 1000, mainly tent camps, but there were some buildings including stores fronts, and a school. All placer mining was quickly overlooked for lode mining due to easily identified veins. Unfortunatly the veins quickly lost values the deeper they were explored. Around this time the Montana and Idaho gold rushes started to gain popularity, and many miners simply packed up and moved on to more promising ground. The townsite was disassymbled in the 1930's due to vandels, and a allaround lack of intrest in the site, all that stands today is the town cemetary, and a few buildings near the main mine. The area was known for gold, silver, copper, and even diamonds.

There are still some oldtimers around that remember seeing a pit on my claim that had a visable seam of gold running
through it. I believe that I have found this area, but I have not found anything substantial to prove it. If anyone has a Falcon MD20, and a highbanker I would be interested in checking some of the old workings. As far as dredging, anything under 4" is allowed with no NOI. Although the creek is only 8"-10" deep in most areas, and only 4' - 5' wide. So anything bigger than a 2" may require some creativeness to get to work.

Hope this answers some questions, and I hope we can meet and maybe save a unfortunate situation.

Scott.

Sounds great, let me know. I could possibly meet up and get you some directions, or I can give them to you over the phone. I work in Fort Collins, and live just east in Windsor. I will be at work until 4:30 today, if you make it down this way.

Leonard, if you don't mind my asking, what kind of BS is going on with your Ark claims? Is it "clerical" or worse?

They are wanting some extremely detailed paperwork, like a map indicating each and every place we want to dredge. OkJohn is working on it.

Leonard,

Did they not give you until next year to file your Notice/Plan? When I talked to (Oh, I can't remember her name, the geologist for the Royal Gorge BLM office), she said we can complete this year under the old terms. (We did get our $25 back from High Hopes, that's what triggered me to call).

I have the family up in BV now in fact. The river is so low, I think we're going to dredge (I brought my stuff!)
