More Gold Pictures from my Downieville Trip
Here I am checking out a nugget! In Colorado I haven't seen too many like this! In fact, I've only seen one. I think that smile on my face was frozen there for the whole time I was on this dredging trip.
One difference I noticed between California and Colorado, ( other than the obvious difference in the quantity of gold ), was the amount of material in the box and behind the riffles. In Colorado, we have a lot more black sand and a lot more gravel left in the box to pan out. Our gravel must be heavier.
This is what it looks like up close and personal! There is even a couple of Colorado nuggets here.
I call the 2 small one's Colorado nuggets as in Colorado I don't often find anything even their size. The large nugget was 18 grains.

Check out the front of the box after a 2 hour run. This was from our 1/4 ounce day.
We had front ends like this several times on this day. There's even 2 small pieces of gold
on the aluminum bracket between the 2 screws at the top right of the picture.

This is the results of 2 days dredging with Dave Nickerson
I met him on the internet and we dredged together. Visit his web page for his account of the 2 days. Shown is about 1/3 ounce. This is the size distribution of gold found. Almost no flour.
