New Dredge on TV Show

Postby libertydave » Wed Jan 09, 2019 12:27 pm

Anyone seen the "White Water Gold" TV show and the new Keene dredge they are using this season? It has an interesting sluice box arrangement with a wire mesh screen elevated over expanded metal and miner's moss in the lower end of the box.

Looked like a 6" machine
Didnt pay close attention to the box
Our 4" flair had raised 1/2" heavy screen over the top 12" of the box, it also extended over the over/under, I'll call it a scalper to allow the big rocks to not upset the top end of the box
I'll pay closer attention tomorrow :ugeek:

New season has a 8" & a 6" in that same nasty spot. Burned their dredger to ll and back with a mickey mouse wetsuit heater. Knew it was garbage. Doomed from day 1 as too many variables, time, costs, current, flash floods, bears plus way to expensive to operate...unless you have a tv station to bankroll your massive loss whilst you die trying ....sad mess-John

Like the Gold Rush and now White Water
TV shows about gold mining with a lot of drama thrown in to cover time
The gold shore is pretty to look at :geek:
Wish they would show the nuggets

From what I heard that dredge has a section of screen raised above and over expanded metal and miner's moss in the lower outflow end. Keene calls it their "Slo-Flo" system. It's on many of their new dredges including their 'Ultra' series

Sad for me to see new and improved recovery systems getting good gold when I am too darn old and worn out to dredge anymore. I agree, seeing the gold is the best part of these shows.

That sounds a lot like the dredge that Dave Mack and my late wife Marcie designed when Dave was manufacturing the ProMack dredges.

I still have one in the four inch size. It is a spectacular gold catcher. It has four scalper Hungarians at the top for catching nuggets, then a raised screen over Armor Weave riffles. Originally it had ribbed carpet under the Armor Weave, I replaced that with miner's moss carpet.

Hi Jim,

I remember meeting Marcie when I stopped by Dave's Happy Camp mining equipment store. Back then I was dredging on the Klamath (upper Savage Rapids) around early 1990s. I was writing mining and gold history articles for Dave's "Gold and Treasure Hunter" magazine back then.

I recall Dave Mack's mining equipment business and he was selling several sizes of dredges. Lots of innovative ideas were in his mining equipment.

Cheers! Liberty Dave
