Here's a "small" elk herd we saw today. There were around 200 on both sides of the road. They were taking their time and standing there watching the people.

Yep, them's Elk alright. Funny how people are watching the Elk and the Elk are watching the people.

I saw something yesterday that I have not seen anywhere else. It was a herd of Black tail Deer. It is very common the see deer here, you have to constantly watch when driving. But this herd was unusual in that there were over one hundred of them grazing in a pasture. We often see more than one deer, sometimes as many as six or seven, but never this many.

We had no snow here, so snow didn't drive them down low. As a matter of fact the deer around here usually stay pretty low year round. I didn't have a comera, so couldn't post any pictures.

Whats funny in front of the white car is a yellow deer crossing sign. The elk were slowly crossing the road. The cars and trucks had to stop to let them cross. This big herd has been hanging out near there.

We see mule deer herds up to about 12 but not big herds like the elk. We were discussing that yesterday. On our 25 mile drive we saw about 55 deer, some of them standing on the side of the road almost ignoring the people. We saw a flock of a couple dozen wild turkey also. We have one place where a flock of about 100 hang out. We saw 2 deer grazing in the middle of the wild turkey flock, just ignoring each other.
