Management is probably fearful the SOB robber might sue them claiming, somehow, his rights were violated Plus, while their policy sucks, they were politically correct.

a lot of places have that policy, when i was working in a gas station the assent manager would keep looking in my car. he had a thing with me and wanted me out of there. he was looking for any signs of a pistol or rifle. i could not have one on the property. one day i told him you know i could have a small tank in the back seat and it would not do any good sitting in the car.

the poor guy was pissed off, he walked in one day and there was a bunch of customers in line with pistols strapped on there sides. it was hunting season. i would keep fresh coffee around the place and word got out, i did not mind any one with a side arm as long as you would walk in and say hay, i am carrying.
