Wilson Hand Dredge Pump

Postby golden optimist » Mon Mar 25, 2013 1:28 pm

I got an email about this. I'm not endorseing it, just passing it on. Looks like a good way to get some arm and shoulder muscles.

i make a suction device i call the gold gun.it has a 3in cylinder with a 1.5 in suction end on it. dose way more material than that contraption. each pull will give you a bout a shovel full of material. i have a two way flap in it also so the material dosnt fall out of the tube till you get to a bucket or sluice and then just push the handle and the material falls out.i sold like fifty of them years ago.thinking of getting back into it cause i havnt seen anything that is worth working. my gun is bad ass. even has a handle on the side and it looks like a gun.

Any footvalve flapper model is far superior as you don't lose a huge amount of the materials you just sucked up. Dozens on the market for sale but look for leather or nylon impregnated o rings and flapper valves for any lasting performance-John

JMHO,...
I also developed a dual action pump very much like this one.
That was over 30 yrs ago.
The main prob I encountered is that it takes a lot of continued energy output
for operation, more than usin' a shovel. I get tired, and ya got to have at least two people to operate it.
I ain't gonna try to work the nozzle and pump at the same time. Wears me out pretty quickly.
Neat little toy, but if you work one out in the field you'll soon dicover that it's labor intensive.
Been there, done that, I'll pass on this one.
I have done so much, with so little, for so long, that I am now qualified to do anything with nothing.
Now, I just have to find the time to put the dang thing together.

i use a three inch expandable test plug for the suction plunger. you can adjust it for more or less suction.

I have to give him an A for effort on this though. I have used the one by Gold n Sand for poking up under rocks (and it did work for that). Now if we could combine this thingamajig with the hand crank trommel . . .
